Description
Yster SUP Naked Carbon V5
Dedicated to long-distance flat water paddling
The Yster SUP Naked Carbon Series is purpose-built for flatwater performance designed to minimise water resistance. The aggressive nose profile together with the double concave bottom shape provides exceptional tracking and directional stability, allowing you to maintain speed and glide with minimal correction.
The design concept originates from years of development in collaboration with SUP Sprint champion, multiple-time world champion and Olympic kayaking medallist Martin Hunter. The V5 inherits the core design philosophy, particularly in the refined front section that helps riders naturally find the optimal paddling position and maximise efficiency through every stroke.
Compared to previous generations, the V5 introduces several key refinements. Strategically placed volume distribution improves overall stability without sacrificing speed, creating a more balanced and predictable ride. The redesigned tail shape delivers an optimal trade-off between speed and stability, keeping the board fast and responsive while maintaining excellent board control.
The reduced front volume has been specifically optimised for flatwater racing and training, where excessive buoyancy is unnecessary. By lowering the volume in the front, the board becomes lighter and more responsive, improving acceleration and creating a more direct connection between each paddle stroke and the board’s movement.
The Naked Carbon V5 is the perfect choice for paddlers looking for maximum efficiency, comfort and speed over longer distances in flatwater conditions. The board performs exceptionally well in sheltered waters as well as in light to moderate wind and chop up to approximately 25 cm. The cockpit bungee system allows you to securely carry essentials such as a water bottle, hydration pack or dry bag, making it an ideal companion for long-distance training sessions, touring and endurance paddling. For paddlers who race or simply want to enjoy the feeling of speed and effortless glide on flatwater, the Naked Carbon V5 delivers a unique combination of performance, stability and long-distance comfort.

Glide means how effortlessly the board moves in the water. In general, the longer and slimmer board, the better glide, but the shape and rocker of the board also has a great impact on the water flow characteristics. Other factors that affect the speed of the board are wind, waves, currents, fins, paddler’s positioning on the board and paddling technique.
Stability indicates how stable the board is to stand and paddle on. The static stability, i.e. when standing still on the board, is in essence affected by its width, bottom profile and fin size. The dynamic stability – when the boards travels in the water – is also affected by its width, bottom profile and fin size but also by the shape of the tail. As a result, Yster’s boards feel more stable, even though they are long and narrow. Other external factors that affect the perceived stability are wind, waves, currents, fins and paddler’s positioning on the board.
Features

Precise response
Aggressive nose angle
The aggressive nose angle provides an extremely responsive feel allowing the board to react quickly and precisely to paddler input and make it easier to compensate for wind conditions.

Minimum water resistance
Cutting nose
The cutting nose design reduces water resistance and enhances overall performance allowing the board to glide more efficiently through the water. This helps maintain momentum between paddle strokes resulting in smoother acceleration and improved speed retention.

Lightweight efficiency
Optimised volume
The reduced front volume is optimised for flatwater conditions where excessive buoyancy is unnecessary. By lowering the volume in the nose the board becomes lighter, improving acceleration responsiveness.

Do not get drenched
Defecting front deck
The front deck is engineered to deflect splashing water from entering the cockpit, helping to keep the cockpit dry and prevent unnecessary water-weight from being carried on the board.

Stability in all waters
Lower your center of gravity
The dug-out cockpit provides greater stability by lowering the paddler’s center of gravity, which allows maintained stability and control over the board, even for a narrower board. In addition, the generous width of the cockpit allows you to stand wide apart with your feet, which also contributes to overall stability. The board gets even more stable thanks to the dynamic stability when you paddle at high speeds.

Keep things close at hand
Bungee cords in cockpit
The bungee cords in the cockpit allow you to secure gear and provide easy access, making it convenient to carry and access items such as water bottles, shoes, and dry-bags while on the board.

Temperature in control
Integrated air vent
The air vent allows the board to “breathe” and prevents delamination by releasing excess air pressure that can build up inside the board due to changes in temperature or altitude. This helps to maintain the board’s structural integrity and prolong its lifespan.

Dual leash plugs
Leash plugs
Two sets of leash plugs are installed on the board, one in the cockpit and one at the tail, providing flexibility for individual preferences in leash attachment.

Let your feet stay dry
Drainage
The board features dual drainage pipes that are designed to quickly and efficiently drain any water that enters the cockpit, helping to keep the cockpit dry and prevent the board from being destabilised by water moving around. The drainage pipes utilize the Venturi effect to quickly drain the standing area.

Perfect grip
Soft handles
The reinforced cushioned handles makes it easy to pull the board out of the water and provides a secure grip, even in windy conditions. Additionally, the comfortable grip makes it easier to carry the board for extended periods.

Well balanced for long distance
Volume at the tail
The volume in the tail is important for maximising the board’s performance in flat water and all-water sup conditions. It helps the board ride more smoothly as the volume at the tail prevents the tail from sinking or bogging down, which can result in a loss of speed and momentum.

Phenomenal glide
Droplet shaped outline
The droplet-formed outline of the board is engineered to optimise hydrodynamics, minimising water resistance, and reducing the drag that would otherwise slow down the board. The optimised hydrodynamics result in phenomenal glide, allowing the board to maintain momentum in the water between paddle strokes.

Fast and stable
Narrow square tail with hard edge
The narrow square tail design is perfectly optimised to provide both speed and stability. The efficient water release from the narrow tail and hard edge allow for greater speed, while the square shape of the tail provides dynamic stability, ensuring the board remains stable even in challenging water conditions.

Stable efficient long-distance glide
Optimised bottom profile
The optimised bottom profile is designed to provide stability, tracking and glide, making it perfect for long-distance paddling. The shape of the bottom profile creates a stable platform, even in choppy conditions and all-water sup conditions. At the same time, the profile is designed to reduce drag, allowing the board to glide smoothly and efficiently through the water with minimal deceleration.

Helps you stay on course
Double concave bottom profile
The double concave bottom profile is engineered to enhance both tracking and stability. The concaves form a defined centre line that helps the board maintain a straighter course through the water reducing the need for frequent steering adjustments. At the same time the dual channels improve water flow along the rails increasing balance and overall stability across a range of conditions.

Good grip for your feet
Weight optimised deck pad
The weight-optimised deck pad offers perfect grip for both barefooted paddling and with boots.

Reinforced against damage to high-stress areas
Reinforced rails and standing area.
The Naked Carbon boards features reinforced rails and standing area with 12k biax carbon fiber, which provides increased strength and durability to these high-stress areas of the board.

High rails for stability
High rails
The high rails add volume which improves stability across the board. This creates a more controlled and predictable feel helping maintain stability in changing conditions and during powerful paddle strokes.

Fin positioning provides course stability
Finbox at the back
The fin box is placed far back at the tail to provide maximum directional stability to the board through the placement of the fin.

Efficient release
Hard rails
The hard rails i.e. sharp edges makes water release more efficient which causes less drag i.e. better glide.

Lightweight
Full carbon
The board is designed using 3D CAD software and precision-shaped with CNC machining to achieve exact dimensions and tight tolerances. The weight-optimised lamination features visible 3K carbon matte naked carbon fibre on the deck bottom and rails.
